Rio Tinto is looking to the Winu Project to break the mould of greenfield project development within the company. Winu is a copper-gold deposit which is being developed in a staged approach applying minimum viable project (MVP) concepts taken from the technology startup industry to really challenge the traditional ways in which a greenfields mining project is developed and operated.
The Winu Operational Readiness (OR) Team is charged with identifying and developing a fit for purpose operation to suit both the Winu Stage 1 MVP operation and establish the foundations for an eventual larger Stage 2 operation.
An exciting opportunity now exists for a Specialist Functional Modelling to join the team.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

This is a unique role and the successful applicant could come from a variety of backgrounds or experiences such as a systems modeling professional looking for new system or industry challenge, or a mining industry professional with cross functional experience looking to apply their industry knowledge in a new and exciting manner.

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have

  • Background in industrial engineering, systems engineering, process engineering or data systems architecture.
  • Experience in the visualisation and representation of complex value chains using functional, activity, IDEF0 or value chain modelling will be critical.
  • An ability to apply your organisational nonce to identify logical gaps in activity chains and work with SMEs to close
  • Development of the Functional Model will rely on multiple SME providing content so your ability to build and maintain good relationships with multiple stakeholders will be critical to your success
  • Ability to facilitate workshops with SME’s to build the Winu Value chain
  • Experience with the integration of practical health, safety, community and environmental stewartship into the conceptual designs

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Specialist Functional Modelling presents a unique opportunity for the right candidate to act as the architect behind the establishment of the Winu business. As the Specialist Functional Modelling you will work with process SME’s to build a model of the full activity value chain for the entire Winu business using the system engineering model tool GeneSYS.
The Winu Functional model will underpin the Winu business. It will first be used to visually represent the business and guide our work planning, resourcing and budgeting for Operational Readiness. It will then be used define and refine how Winu will be operated. From the Functional Model we will be able to visualize process inputs, outputs and the technology, capability, resources that Winu will need once operating.
This position will be Perth based and offered on a secondment or Fixed Term contract for 6-9 months.
