Description:

SPORTS TEACHING ASSISTANT APPRENTICESHIP - GOLDSMITH PRIMARY ACADEMY

We are seeking an Apprentice Teaching Assistant who is passionate about PE and the transformative power of team sports. We are looking for somebody starting out in their career who maybe aspires to become a sports coach. You will work closely with the PE Specialist Teacher and Student Services Team to ensure the efficient delivery of physical education, school sport, swimming, active interventions and reregulation activities with pupils.
Key Details:
Salary: £6.40p/h
Working week: Monday to Friday, 37 hours a week, hours to be discussed on interview. (Term Time only - 38-40 Weeks a year)
Notice Period: 1 Month
Apprenticeship Details - 18 months expected duration to complete, working towards your Level 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification. (All learning is delivered online/ remote).
Training Provider: LMP Education (rated as the best UK training provider)

Main Duties:

  • Supporting the PE Specialist Teacher in all aspects of Teaching PE at Goldsmith
  • Provide administrative support to the PE specialist teacher in terms of fixture preparation and offsite activity administration.
  • Supporting the Student Services team by providing an active, daily intervention to support regulation
  • Accompanying offsite sports fixtures
  • Deliver extra-curricular supervisory sessions (e.g. Before and After School Care) and sports clubs, as required by the school.
  • Plan, prepare and deliver high quality classroom support.
  • Plan, prepare and deliver high quality PE/Sport sessions.
  • Deliver bespoke interventions e.g. 1:1 support, SEN, small group work.
  • Work with a designated Sports Teacher to develop the appropriate skills, knowledge and behaviours required to be a proficient Sports Teaching Assistant.
  • Commit to the completion of the Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship Standard, including the End Point Assessment (EPA) process.
  • Commit to the completion of additional qualifications, e.g. Safeguarding, Prevent, COVID-19 awareness, E-Safety, First Aid, sports-specific qualifications, via attendance at education days/online sessions and completing your coaching qualification.
  • Follow all Goldsmith procedures and policies, with specific reference to Safeguarding Children protocols.

Person Specification Required:

  • Applicants must be enthusiastic and hold a keen interest in the importance of sports and developing the education of the younger generation.
  • We require applicants to be self-motivated and exemplify our ASPIRE Values. .
  • A commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
  • A willingness to engage generally in the life of the school, including those activities that take place outside the classroom.

Essential Criteria:

  • GCSE Maths and English at Grade C / Level 4 or above. (or equivalent)
  • Demonstrable participation in sports related activities for a sustained period of time

Desirable Criteria:

  • Current member of a uniformed organisation [eg guides/scouts] ·
  • Volunteering roles ·
  • Member of a sports team / club ·
  • Duke of Edinburgh Award ·
  • Part time work experience ·
  • Post GCSE exams / courses would be advantageous
  • Ability to drive and willingness to become qualified to drive a minibus
