SUMMARY

The Sr Accountant position assists the Vice President, Finance with the financial responsibilities of the Health and Hope Divisions of Sulzbacher. This includes advanced, multifaceted accounting and related functions in such areas as ledger maintenance and analysis, cost and/or financial analysis, fund reconciliation, posting, and inventory control. Analyzes complex financial and operating data and prepares management reports, financial statements, and projections.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related required.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of finance and accounting experience.
  • Experience with computerized general ledger systems
  • Excellent grasp of accounting principles
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, Word Office software suite.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience in not-for-profit organization and/or grant management preferred
  • Ability to pass a Level II Background Screening

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepares, analyzes and reviews budgets and expenditures for local, state, federal, and private funding, contracts, and grants ensuring compliance with fiscal accountability and reporting and funding requirements.
  • Monitors and reviews accounting and related system reports for accuracy and completeness; prepares and reviews budget, revenue, expense, payroll entries, invoices, and other accounting transactions for the Health Services Division and Hope Team Division.
  • Analyzes revenue and expenditure trends, recommends appropriate budget levels, and ensures expenditure control.
  • Post deposits, general ledger detail, record journal entries and perform account reconciliations support for monthly book close.
  • Advises and interprets policies to management, staff, and outside persons such as vendors, funding source representatives; explains billings and reports and resolves related problems.
  • Participates in audits and other projects.
  • Prepares regularly scheduled and special billings and financial statements for local, state, federal, and private funding sources.
  • Perform monthly account reconciliations for the Health and Hope divisions, to include balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with grants and government grants and contracts, including their accuracy and timely submission, tracking, and reporting.
  • Record and monitor all patient revenue transactions.
  • All other duties, as assigned.
  • Always ensure patient confidentiality and EMR security. Maintain patient information within HIPAA.
