Description:
Robert Half is seeking a Sr. Financial Analyst to join an exciting company, rapidly growing in the retail industry, based in Edmonton, Alberta. This role involves leading financial tasks and providing support to the Financial Operations team. The Sr. Financial Analyst will be responsible for ensuring the efficiency of financial systems and maintaining high-quality internal controls. Responsibilities:
- Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results, including the execution of journal entries and analysis of account reconciliations across all segment units.
- Collaborate with the Accounting Operations team, including reviewing working papers and analyzing lead sheets.
- Supervise the review of operating statement accounts and subledgers, identifying any misclassification or omissions of expenses, financial entries, and accruals, and recommending solutions.
- Conduct thorough analysis and investigation of variances through reviewing general ledger accounts and subledgers, reporting findings to management where appropriate.
- Assist in the review of retail segment reporting through dashboards for Retail Operators and other key stakeholders.
- Collaborate closely with auditors to assist with audit requests, provide supporting documents and respond to questions in a timely manner.
- Support the maintenance of corporate general ledger and new setups, managing financial system practices and procedures to improve efficiency.
- Uphold high-quality internal controls, including adherence to IFRS requirements.
- Coach, mentor and provide training to other accounting team members.
- CPA Designation
- Experience working in public practice (including working knowledge of IFRS)
- Ability to generate Monthly Financial Reports
- Skilled in Variance Analysis
- Proficiency in IFRS Accounting
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently during hybrid working hours
