Description:
QUALIFICATIONS YOU MUST HAVE
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.

QUALIFICATIONS WE PREFER
- Experience in the design of mechanical rotating equipment.
- Experience in the design of hydraulic and fluid circuits.
- AutoCAD (preferred 2D drafting format) and NX – 3D CAD by Siemens (SolidWorks)

The successful candidate will design mechanical test equipment and systems within the Mechanical Power Conversion (MPC) division of Collins Aerospace. The test equipment is utilized for production, R&D, and qualification testing of cutting-edge military and commercial aerospace products including fuel pumps, air turbine starters and blowers, engine and air frame gearboxes, and lube and scavenge pumps.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Design test equipment, components, and systems for MPC (Mechanical Power Conversion) suite of mechanical power generation, transmission, and distribution products for military and commercial applications.
- Research, plan, design, and develop mechanical, thermodynamic, hydraulic, and power transmission test equipment for engineering tests, qualification testing, and production testing of engine & aircraft mounted gearboxes, air turbine starters, main fuel pumps, integrated fuel pumps, and lube & scavenge pumps
- Document drawings, schematics, diagrams, and specifications of test equipment designs.
- Lead test equipment activities including build, assembly, checkout, verification/validation, and commissioning.
- Review test results in relation to equipment design or rated specifications and test objectives and recommend modification or adjustments of equipment to meet specifications.
- Develop performance, maintenance, and calibration requirements for test stands and equipment.
- Participate/lead peer reviews of specifications, designs, and concepts for test equipment, components, and systems.
- Work independently and on cross-functional teams with Product Engineers, Program Managers, Quality Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, and Operations Managers.
- Communicate and cooperate with Quality Clinic and related departments to ensure product quality and support the test of field issues.
- Complete work on time, within quality standards, per specifications and contracts, and within budget constraints.
- Define and prepare confidential test equipment proposals including schedule and budget to design, construct, and install test equipment and facility infrastructure.
- Research, analyze, evaluate, and qualify improvements and alternatives for machines, components, subsystems, process methods, and system designs.
- Utilize lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies in manufacturing, testing, and transactional processes to drive improvement in quality and test efficiency.
