Description:
Rainbow Ward is seeking proactive, enthusiastic Band 5 nurses to join the WWL family on our friendly Children’s Ward. The ward has benefited from recent investment to create a sensory zone, and a Teen Zone area, providing age appropriate spaces for our patients, day to day.
Rainbow ward is a 34 bedded integrated paediatric unit , including a 2 bedded HDU , caring for children aged 0 – 16 years with medical and surgical needs, giving staff who work on the ward a diverse range of patients to work with – no two days are ever the same!
We are looking to recruit to a 36 hour post, with a working pattern across 7 days (internal rotation).
In exchange for your hard work and dedication we offer a comprehensive preceptorship package, including medicines management training (including intravenous medications) and two mandatory paediatric study days in a rolling twelve month period. Further development opportunities exist with the chance to mentor students from UCLAN and Edgehill as they pursue their own career as a student nurse, or nurse associate.
Each member of Band 5 nurses is encouraged to pursue an area of specialist interest such as diabetes, or asthma .
Nurses will also have the opportunity to complete APLS training , subject to having completed two years post qualification training.
Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust are the proud providers of acute hospital and community services to the people of the Wigan Borough and surrounding areas. At WWL, we value our staff believing that ‘happy staff, makes for happy patients’. We have a recognised track record in staff engagement, and our values.
WWL are committed to placing the patient at the heart of everything we do, and in the provision of safe, effective care that acknowledges and ensures dignity. With this in mind we are seeking to recruit people who share our values and beliefs.
Senior positions (Band 8a and above) may be expected to participate in an on-call rota.
