Description:

The Integrated Procedures Unit (IPU) has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, organised and fully trained Endoscopy Staff Nurse to join our core nursing team.
This role is for 30 hours per week, worked over 3 days. IPU is open 07:30-19:30 Monday to Friday, so you will benefit from an excellent work-life balance whilst joining a dynamic nurse-led service.
IPU consists of an endoscopy room, procedures unit, interventional radiology unit, ultrasound room, surgical dressings clinic, outpatients clinic, day of surgery admissions unit, an operating theatre and second stage recovery bays. This is a great opportunity to further develop your endoscopy skills within our service whilst also gaining exposure and experience within the wider IPU service.
Please note, you must have 12 months of Band 5 endoscopy experience to apply for this post.
To assist the endoscopist to undertake diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures, maintaining the highest standards of care within the endoscopy service.
To assess, plan, implement and evaluate pe and post-procedure care for patients undergoing endoscopy.
To assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for patients undergoing a diverse range of day case procedures.
Act as a clinical role model for new staff, reflecting the philosophy, beliefs, and standards of the department .
To effectively communicate with all members of the multidisciplinary team to promote a positive working partnership across all IPU services.
To act as a preceptor/mentor/clinical supervisor for junior staff and students.

Ensure that all prescribed drugs and treatments are given correctly and in accordance with Trust policy, including the correct care and custody of controlled drugs.

To participate as a member of the endoscopy nursing team within the endoscopy unit on IPU.
To assist the endoscopist to undertake diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures, maintaining the highest standards of care within the endoscopy service.
To be responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation, and evaluation of care plans for patients undergoing endoscopic procedures.
To support the Unit in maintaining Joint Advisory Group on GI Endoscopy (JAG) accreditation.
To participate as a member of the IPU core nursing team with knowledge in the care of the patients on the unit.
To demonstrate high standards of individual patient care with a commitment to the development of evidence-based practice.
To competently care for the patient including the assessment, planning and evaluation of programs of care.
Liaise and integrate with the multi-disciplinary team, ensuring patients receive comprehensive care and promote a team approach to working.
Develop good working relationships and promote effective communication between all clinical grades of staff within the multi-disciplinary IPU team.

To monitor the progress of learners and in particular their skills in carrying out practical procedures.
