SUMMARY

STARBASE Hill, as an extension of the Department of Defense (DoD) STARBASE Program and the participating district classroom, is currently searching for candidates to bring the world of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Science (STEAM) to 6th-9th grade students. The STARBASE Hill Advanced Coordinator delivers the extensive curriculum of the STARBASE Hill Academy to schools throughout northern Utah. This opportunity aims to enhance an interest in STEAM careers, for those who may not understand its endless possibilities, and mentor the students during this vital time in their educational careers.

DESCRIPTION

Note: This is an out of district funded position, applicants understand that if the funding dissolves so does the position.STARBASE Hill Advanced Coordinator/Instructor // Teaching and Learning Department32-40 hours a week // 210 days a year // Table 4, Grade 9, Step 1 // $36.61 hr.RESPONSIBILITIES:-Creates and implements program marketing-Manages relationships with schools-Ensures Advanced Program is representative of the description in the Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI) 1025.07, 3.4 Section (b)-Operates the STARBASE Hill Advanced Program as stated in DoDI 1025.07, 3.4 Section (b) para 6-Recruits and screens program volunteers as mentoring candidates for each club-Manages volunteer STEAM coaches-Coordinates and delivers volunteer training-Collects and evaluates data (i.e. retention information, pre/post test results, demographics, etc.)-Supports and motivates program volunteers-Prepare materials, lesson scripts, classrooms, and activities for instruction utilizing computer and/or SMART technology for lessons where appropriate-Delivers program supplies/equipment to district school, off-site location, hosting the STARBASE Hill Advanced club-Develop new curriculum lessons, which are correlated with state and national objectives, to submit to DoD STARBASE and utilize within the STARBASE Hill programs-Fulfill responsibilities of STARBASE Hill Academy Instructor (when scheduled or needed)-Assist participants/parents or guardians in completing STARBASE Advanced survey REQUIREMENTS:-Must possess one of the following:-Bachelor’s degree in STEAM field or education-Associate’s degree with at least 2 years of experience in STEAM or education-Equivalent experience teaching with at least 4 years in STEAM subjects-Must possess a valid driver’s license-Need to possess a knowledge of computers-Need to recognize and implement effective teaching practices and classroom management skills-Must have the ability and willingness for quality communication, and effective relationships with STARBASE Hill staff, military and civilian government personnel, district school faculty, students, parents, media outlets, influencers and mentoring volunteers-Need to be enthusiastic while exhibiting a passion for STEAM subjects and ensuring student engagement-Need the ability to travel in and out of state for training and/or conferences-Familiarity with the STARBASE Hill Academy Program (Recommended)
