Description:
The Strategic Sourcing Engineer role is responsible for developing and implementing the sourcing strategies aimed at controlling product cost and lead times as well as minimizing site inventory. A key area is to establish beneficial supplier agreements which involves collaboration and negotiating with suppliers, followed by leading the contracts, and track performance metrics to ensure expected results and take appropriate action when vital.
This position makes a priority in maintaining and developing the collaboration with key suppliers and for ensuring that new suppliers are registered as supplier to Emerson and qualified to supply the intended scope according to Emerson procedures prior to releasing the supplier for standard business dealings

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS THAT SET YOU APART:
- Technical background or education would be preferred, to assure an efficient collaboration with the suppliers
- Experience working with similar products, parts
- Experience working in Oil&Gas industries would be nice to have
- Proficient in interpreting manufacturing/machining drawings with a basic understanding of manufacturing/machining/measurement methods
Responsibilities:
IN THIS ROLE, YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE:
- Responsible for building and maintaining a good relationship with key suppliers and to lead regular metric-based supplier business reviews to ensure alignment related to business goals.
- In charge with developing Supplier Agreements and lead negotiations (T&Cs, pricing etc.) for both direct and indirect items.
- Collaborate with Supplier Quality to align on required supplier qualification activities including first articles and supplier audit for both new and existing suppliers.
- Drive data collection, metric development and analysis to measure supply chain efficiency
- Responsible for based on data collection and spend analysis identifying in collaboration with relevant stakeholders’ activities/projects that would drive supplier cost reduction and net material inflation improvement, improve supplier timely delivery, support supplier quality improvements, inventory turn improvements and reduce the supply chain risks
- Ensure that all transactions under own responsibility are accurately screened and recorded in accordance with the company’s Trade Compliance procedures and to call out any concerns or questions to the local Gatekeeper.
- Collaborate with our New Product Development teams to ensure that new parts introduced can be produced by the suppliers at reasonable cost, risk and lead time, and that end-of-life risks are minimized to the extent possible.
- Work closely with our New Product Development teams to support in/own the work related to supplier identification/selection with the goal to minimize sole and single source suppliers and reuse existing suppliers where possible.
- Take the lead in implementing the agreed supplier facing improvement activities/projects.
FOR THIS ROLE, YOU WILL NEED:
- Bachelor / Master’s Degree in business, supply chain management, engineering or related fields (Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying)
- Proven track record of 5-10 years in strategic sourcing and procurement roles, with a track record of successful cost optimization and supplier relationship management
- Experience working with new product development projects and new product introductions.
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
- Proficient in using procurement software and tools
- Willingness to travel regularly domestically and internationally (10-20%)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Proficiency in English language both verbally and in writing
