Description:
Would you like to learn about the various methods of land surveying / construction and see first-hand how commercial, residential, and industrial developments, as well as critical infrastructure projects are designed and built? We are looking for hard working, dedicated team members that enjoy working primarily outdoors in a fast paced environment and are willing to learn the necessary skills to be successful and advance in the land surveying / construction surveying field. Overtime is regularly available during the extended construction season.
Driesenga & Associates, Inc., a full service professional civil engineering, materials testing and land surveying firm, has opportunities for full-time Survey Crew Technician in our Holland and/or Grand Rapids offices. This is a potential career path position for an eager, hard working individual. All training and tools to be successful will be afforded to the selected candidate.
The Survey Crew Technician position requires an interest in technology, problem solving, and producing accurate results. Selected candidates will learn and working under the immediate direction of a Survey Crew Chief as part of a two man crew. Experience / familiarity in the construction industry is helpful though not necessary. Candidates will be trained on the job to perform a variety of functions inclusive of, but not limited to:
- Survey equipment and vehicle upkeep
- Setting of survey markers and construction stakes in a variety of terrains and conditions
- Effectively and professionally communicating with a of variety clients and co–workers
- Set up and utilization of robotic and GPS survey equipment
Land survey and construction staking operations are performed in a variety of seasonal weather conditions at locations including construction sites, rural areas, downtown city streets, and highways. Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license, high school diploma, or GED equivalent, perform manual labor tasks, carry equipment of up to 50 pounds over uneven terrain and have an energetic positive attitude.
