JOB SUMMARY

Do you enjoy working with your hands and have an interest in engines? Our engine machining and rebuild shop in Nanaimo is looking for an entry-level Tear Down Technician to join our team!
This role is perfect for someone mechanically inclined, eager to learn, and looking to build a career in the automotive machining industry. You’ll be trained to safely disassemble engines, clean components, and prepare parts for inspection and machining.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Mechanical aptitude and a strong interest in automotive/engine systems
  • Previous shop, mechanical, or hands-on experience (automotive, small engines, or industrial cleaning) is an asset, but not required
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and keep parts well-organized
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a shop environment
  • Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and commitment to quality and safety

Responsibilities

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Safely disassemble engines, cylinder heads, and subassemblies for inspection and machining
  • Tag, label, and organize components to maintain traceability
  • Clean and prep engine parts using washers, bead blasters, or other shop equipment
  • Assist machinists by preparing components for inspection, measurement, and further work

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform basic visual checks to identify cracks, wear, or damage and escalate to senior staff
  • Record work performed on job travelers or digital systems as required
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in line with shop standards
  • Follow all PPE and safety guidelines when working with tools, chemicals, or machinery
