Required:

  • Degree in Science (Level 8 minimum)
  • People Management
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with Quality Management Systems, ideally in an ISO-accredited laboratory
  • Strong organisational and documentation skills with high attention to detail
  • Good working knowledge of laboratory processes, terminology, and basic analytical techniques
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with LIMS or similar quality software
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team
  • A proactive attitude and strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Solution focused.

Desired:

  • Familiarity with ISO 17025 standards, laboratory quality systems, and audit procedures.

Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are currently seeking a Technical Manager to support the ongoing delivery of high standards in laboratory quality systems and analytical operations. The successful candidate will work closely with the Laboratory Manager, the Quality Manager, and analysts to ensure that laboratory procedures, records, and outputs are compliant with ISO/IEC 17025 standards and other relevant quality frameworks. This role is hands-on and will suit someone with a methodical approach, strong organisational skills, and a keen eye for detail.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Carry out routine quality control checks on laboratory processes and documentation
  • Monitor the implementation of quality procedures and assist in maintaining ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation
  • Development and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Quality Manuals
  • Liaison with relevant teams and management
  • Guarantee the technical aspects of testing activities
  • Participate in internal audits
  • Organise and coordinate proficiency testing
  • Support QA programmes
  • Assist analysts and technicians in adhering to proper documentation and reporting practices
  • Maintain calibration and maintenance records for laboratory instruments and equipment
  • Record, manage, and investigate non-conformances, deviations, and customer complaints
  • Corrective/preventive action processes
  • Method development and validation
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and quality system reviews
  • Help ensure health, safety, and environmental standards are followed in all quality-related activities
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant legislative specifications and standards.
