DEVELOPER – ENERGY TRADING, MARKETS

We’re seeking a proactive Trading Developer to architect and enhance the data and process backbone of our trading environment. You’ll design and implement backend APIs, real-time data pipelines, and monitoring frameworks—ensuring reliable, low-latency access to market and operational data. While your core focus is backend development, any front-end or full-stack experience will be a welcome bonus.
The trading developer will work closely with quantitative-analysts and trading management to develop a new trading product. The role will initially be the only developer within the Trading Department and is a great opportunity to work towards leading a growing team in the future.

COLLABORATION & DOCUMENTATION

· Work closely with traders, quants, and operations to understand data requirements.
· Produce clear design docs and code reviews to foster team knowledge sharing.

What we are looking for

  • 3+ years of experience in a development role, with a proficiency in Python; comfortable working with other languages (e.g. C#, JavaScript)
  • Hands-on experience building and operating real-time streaming solutions (e.g., Spark Streaming, Kafka, Event-Hub)
  • Thorough understanding of Azure services (Functions, App Services, AKS).

· Proven design and integration with deploying API frameworks (e.g. FastAPI, Django, etc.)
· Track record in designing, managing and optimising relational databases (SQL, Delta Tables)

· Knowledge of containerization tools and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the capacity to work autonomously and suggest the best solutions and tools for the needs of the team
  • Can communicate complex issues and solutions to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Nice to have

· Certification in Azure (e.g., Azure Developer Associate, Azure Solutions Architect).

  • Prior exposure to front-end or full-stack development (React, Angular, Vue) to build internal screens.

· Background in Energy Markets or Trading Environment (e.g. Trading exchanges, ETRMs)

  • Familiarity with Data and Analytics Environments such as DataBricks, Fabric and their storage solutions (Delta Tables, LakeHouses, KQL)
  • Experience with algorithmic trading routines or development of Trading Systems

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £40,000.00-£50,000.00 per year
