THE OPPORTUNITY:

Hudbay Minerals Inc. is seeking an Underground Mine Supervisor at our Lalor Mine, reporting to the Mine Superintendent. This position will be a 7/7 opportunity. There is a camp available while on shift if you prefer to travel, however relocation packages and housing assistance is available to move you and your family to the vibrant community of Snow Lake if you wish.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous underground supervisory experience, preferably in a unionized environment.
  • Strong commitment to safety.
  • Values delegating work to team members in order to achieve the required production targets.
  • Ability to foster a climate of safety and continuous improvement.
  • Written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and direct activities of crew members and continuously improve the team’s work performance through effective use of establisted systems and processes in order to achieve assigned objectives.
  • Ensure the:
  • Safety of all personnel
  • Production quality consistent with the established standards for the mine
  • Cost-efficient management of consumables and supplies
  • Shift production that is aligned with weekly schedule
  • People training, coaching and skills development in role
  • Optimize utilization of mobile equipment
  • Discipline when necessary in accordance with the CBA for employees who are unionized
  • Be in compliance of regulatory and Hudbay Environmental standards
  • Read and interpret mine plans, mining sequences, construction prints and mine engineering schedules so that input can provided to optimize production.
  • Plan, establish targets/standards, schedule resources, and assign work in such a way that team members can make effective use of materials, equipment, and tools to achieve a pre-defined mining sequence in the Superintendent’s area.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to recommend corrective actions based on monitoring the conditions that could adversely affect, under or exceed, the scheduled development and production targets
