Working with a small technical team will provide you with the opportunity and autonomy to stretch into other areas of exposure if you wish to progress towards becoming a Senior Engineer or technical specialist depending on your own career goals. Your abilities and talents will be recognised and encouraged, and development training opportunities will be offered. Working closely with our experienced Senior Mining Engineer / Alt UG Manager and Underground Manager, in this position you will:

  • Optimise development and production layouts through intelligent mine design techniques and subsequently efficient extraction of ore from the underground operation.
  • Provide clear instructions for the underground production teams including economic analyses for stope notes and development and drill and blast layout suggestions.
  • Carry out the appointed Ventilation Officer duties ensuring compliance with ventilation regulations.
  • Complete Underground inspections to ensure that the designs are being implemented correctly and safely.
  • Carry out daily tasks including meetings and reports. Attend and provide input into weekly planning and production meetings.
  • Undertake and complete unique projects as required.
  • Ensure that explosives are managed in compliance with statutory obligations

The Edna May operation was acquired by Ramelius in 2017 as an operating open pit gold mine and has since progressed to an underground mine only. In addition, the Edna May gold mine also provides milling and processing facilities for the Marda and Tampia gold mines. The small underground engineering team is experienced and offers excellent mentorship for an emerging Engineer looking to continue to develop their practical knowledge in a well-managed environment.
You will be responsible for drill and blast designs and short-term schedules whilst gaining invaluable experience and exposure to medium term scheduling and planning activities if this is desired.

To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess:

  • Tertiary Qualification in Mining Engineering.
  • Ideally at least 1-2 years’ underground mining experience, ideally from within a narrow vein, long hole open stoping environment.
  • Current unencumbered C Western Australian Drivers Licence and the ability to obtain a National Police Clearance.
  • We are happy to consider Graduate level applications with vacation work experience
