NextStar Energy (NSE) is an innovative joint venture company between LG and Stellantis. It will be Canada’s first large-scale lithium-ion battery production plant when it begins production at the Twin Oaks site in Windsor, Ontario. We are seeking a highly skilled Utility Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintenance, operation, and improvement of the facility’s infrastructure, including HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and general building systems. This role requires a strong understanding of building systems, mechanical and electrical systems and project management.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as an engineer
  • Ability to create and interpret schematics and drawings
  • Legally authorized to work in US/Canada

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Exposure in electrical equipment setting, preferably in battery production facility
  • Experienced with the handling of some of the following systems: Electrical System/Equipment, Control system/PLC program, HVAC, Chiller, Air compressor, Boiler, Pump, Piping, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles and practices
  • Proficiency in CAD software and other design tools
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations
  • Preferred to have the international or national certificates on electrical engineering.
  • Excellent communicator and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Manage and execute engineering projects from concept to completion.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure project success.
  • Documentation: Prepare detailed technical documentation and reports.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for process improvement and implement solutions.
  • Analysis & Testing: Conduct simulations and tests to validate designs and ensure performance.
  • Manage and lead projects of various complexities including initial investigation, project and budget approval, resource management, testing, and implementation.
  • Lead and support equipment commissioning, modifications, and installations
  • Troubleshoot an abrupt breakdown of utility equipment.
  • Prepare and complete reports and documentation for downtime, Root Cause Analysis, countermeasure activity, project status updates, and follow-up activities (PDCA)
  • Demonstrate problem solving methodology and reduce a loss of utility cost.
  • Follow the work procedure and comply with safety & standard.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
