Children’s Medical Research Institute (CMRI) is looking for a Research Assistant to support its Vectorology and Genome Engineering Facilities.

WORK WITH A TEAM OF DEDICATED PROFESSIONALS

We are looking for a Vectorology Facility Research Assistant to join our team to:

  • Support the delivery of products, services and projects offered by the facilities both independently and as part of a team
  • Perform specialized techniques related to viral vector production and genome engineering within PC2 environments
  • Prepare and compile data including contributing to technical reports and service delivery reports under supervision
  • Maintain accurate records and be involved in data basing results and shared laboratory resources
  • Provide assistance in duties which contribute to the general organization and management of the laboratory, such as ensuring supply of required workplace materials, maintaining equipment and the creation and updating of CMRI laboratory safety guidelines and standard operating procedures
  • Actively participate in laboratory meetings
  • Actively participate in training activities with other team members
  • Apply technical knowledge, research skills, and laboratory experience to a diverse range of laboratory tasks and activities, and help identify novel solutions to problems
  • Share knowledge within the community and promote CMRI through participation in activities such as seminars or Discovery Days

WHAT CAN YOU BRING TO THIS ROLE?

  • Appropriate academic degree in a relevant discipline
  • 1+ years research lab experience working in PC2 laboratories. This may also include a research project done in an Honours and/or Masters.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel required.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant area of scientific research
  • Experience in the relevant laboratory activity
  • Proficient computational skills and application of database programs
  • Strong understanding of the scientific imperatives of research
  • Desirable: Experience working with viral vectors, mammalian cell cultures, and iPSC cell culture
