Cornerstone Children’s Homes is looking for a Waking Nights Care Worker to join our dedicated team in Reading. In this vital overnight role, you’ll help create a calm, safe, and therapeutic environment for young people with emotional and behavioural challenges.
About the Role
As a Waking Nights Care Worker, you’ll work closely with a team of professionals to support young people throughout the night. You will be a steady, reliable presence—ensuring routines are followed, incidents are calmly handled, and the young person feels safe and supported.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide practical and emotional support to children and young people during night hours
  • Build positive, trusting relationships based on consistency and empathy
  • Follow and contribute to personalised care plans and routines
  • Complete accurate documentation, nightly logs, and handover reports
  • Maintain a safe and structured environment within the home
  • Support the upkeep of the home and ensure high standards of cleanliness and organisation
  • Be a positive role model at all times, promoting appropriate behaviour and communication
