About us
The Queensland Fire Department (QFD) provides fire prevention, preparedness and response services to fire in the built and landscape environments, as well as scientific and specialist capabilities to Queensland communities. The QFD provides a multi-hazard emergency response, including road crash rescue, bushfire, hazardous material, technical and vertical rescue, severe weather incidents, remote and swiftwater rescue, and provides a number of functions supporting community safety outcomes.
The department encompasses Queensland Fire and Rescue (QFR), Rural Fire Service Queensland (RFSQ), as well as the broader department which work together to pre-empt, prevent, mitigate and manage the consequences of fires and other emergencies on Queensland communities and support our large volunteer membership across the state.
The QFD is an organisation that is focused on reframing the department’s relationship with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, and organisations through the Path to Treaty, Closing the Gap and building our cultural capability.
Purpose of the role
The Fleet Delivery team is responsible for leading fleet operations, fleet strategy and mechanical services, and provides repairs and maintenance of fit for purpose heavy, light, and medium commercial fleet vehicles and associated equipment to all members of QFD Through the full lifecycle management and best practice approach to the fleet and equipment management, we ensure all assets and equipment are managed strategically and maintained to meet the complex environment in which they are deployed and utilised, and to meet operational capability and organisational objectives.
Reporting to the Executive Manager, you will be responsible for the management of warranty and post-delivery contract and service level agreements, coordination of technical information and implementation, and management of Scheduled Oil Sampling (SOS) testing program. You will manage the warranty of fleet assets post-delivery into service, and be the single point of contact, who seeks to understand the warranty contracts and acts in the interest of the organisation to have fleet assets repaired under warranty and/or manufacturers’ recall notices to ensure vehicles are serviced within agreed timeframes to meet operational service capability.
Key requirements

  • Knowledge and/or experience in contract management and fleet management functions and frameworks.
  • Minimum of three years’ relevant experience in heavy vehicle or fleet asset related environment.
  • Experience in project management methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and written documentation skills and knowledge in computer-based applications such as Word, Excel etc.

Your key accountabilities

Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in supporting key frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to:

  • Develop processes to manage identified faults and failures in order to liaise with key suppliers to rectify issues and meet contractual agreements.
  • Manage activities and work with cross-functional teams relating to the full lifecycle fleet asset management and best practice approach to address and resolve technical and commercial warranty issues.
  • Design, develop and implement warranty strategy and contract management processes to ensure pre-delivery and post-delivery into the operational fleet meets asset specifications and requirements.
  • Develop processes to ensure that internal and external warranty reporting is clear and concise with appropriate format and content that accurately conveys warranty status and drives appropriate actions.
  • Maintain effective communication and documentation management with original equipment manufacturers and external suppliers of fleet assets to ensure mechanical servicing and repairs meet high service quality outcomes.
  • Manage and coordinate the SOS oil and lubricant testing program, through provision of information to suppliers in consultation with workshop operations to address warranty issues and enhance preventative and predictive maintenance.
  • Ensure provision of technical manuals, advice, and support across all the state mechanical workshops to improve and expedite repairs, ensuring services performed comply with contract specifications.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of warranty related policies, procedures, work instructions and promote their effective and efficient application within the mechanical and technical teams.
