We are looking for an experienced HR professional to take on the role of HR Director in a Contract to Permanent capacity. Based in Toronto, Ontario, this position involves managing daily HR operations, guiding a skilled team, and driving the strategic vision of the department. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced leader to make an immediate impact while contributing to the development of long-term HR initiatives.

• Oversee the daily operations of the HR department, ensuring all functions run smoothly and effectively.
• Lead and support a team consisting of an HR Generalist, Payroll Specialist, and Training Specialist.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive succession plan to align with the organization’s strategic goals.
• Provide expertise and guidance on employee benefits, including liaising with benefits providers and preparing for future contract negotiations.
• Evaluate and improve existing HR policies and procedures, including the creation of a comprehensive employee handbook.
• Partner with legal counsel to assess and select additional legal firms to support HR compliance and risk management.
• Ensure the team is equipped with the tools and training necessary for growth and development.
• Maintain compliance with employment laws and regulations while fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
• Collaborate with leadership to align HR strategies with organizational objectives and long-term vision.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in HR, with at least 5-10 years as a generalist covering areas such as compliance, benefits, and training.
• Proven ability to manage and lead HR teams, with a focus on mentorship and fostering growth.
• Strong knowledge of employment laws, risk management, and legal compliance within a corporate environment.
• Demonstrated expertise in benefits administration and the ability to negotiate with providers.
• Excellent technical skills, including proficiency with HRIS systems and data analysis tools.
• A proactive and strategic mindset, with the ability to implement long-term HR initiatives while addressing immediate needs.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on collaboration and team-building.
• Experience in a manufacturing or mechanical environment is an asset, but not mandatory.
