Permanent, Full Time & Part Time
£34,712 to £46,751 per annum (FTE)
Location: South Essex - Basildon & surrounding areas
Working Style: Community-based worker
Part time applications (18.5 hours) can also be considered. The advertised salary range will be pro rata’d for part time hours.

About the Role
Working to support adults and their families who have complex social needs and are more vulnerable as a result of disability, exclusion, or diminished capacity, you’ll maximise their potential to live independently.
With case work focusing on the most complex and challenging adult cases, you’ll ensure that adults and their families are safeguarded. You’ll share ideas and best practice, providing specialist advice as part of a multi-disciplinary team sharing your knowledge as a Social Worker.
Social workers manage a caseload, including assessment of risk and purposeful intervention through direct work, commissioned services and review.
We currently have several opportunities for Social Workers, within our South Essex area within Discharge to Assess, Neighbourhood, Learning Disability & Autism and several other teams.
Our teams in South Essex are primarily based out of our offices in Basildon. South Essex borders the unitary authority of Southend and Thurrock and offers the opportunity to work with health partners within the area. In addition, the area also has good links to London. With a mix of Urban and some rural/ semi-rural locations, the variety and scope of the work you will be able to get involved in is huge.
About You
To apply you should be a qualified social worker with a current Social Work England registration. You’ll bring at least 1 year’s social work experience, evidence of continuing professional development, and capability of practice in accordance with current professional standards.
You’ll bring significant experience of social work, modelling good practice and providing advice and guidance in complex situations. As, as a subject matter expert in relevant professional practice, you should have a comprehensive understanding of current legislation, regulations, and guidance.
With experience of chairing meetings involving clients, family members, carers, and other multi-agency professionals, we’re looking for your ability to develop strong relationships with partner agencies and the local community to provide a supportive framework for vulnerable adults.

Responsibilities:

THIS ROLE INVOLVES TRAVELLING AROUND ESSEX. A DRIVING LICENCE AND CAR - OR THE ABILITY TO MEET THE MOBILITY REQUIREMENTS OF THE ROLE THROUGH OTHER MEANS - IS ESSENTIAL.

As part of employment with Essex County Council (ECC) should your role require a DBS check you will be required to register with the DBS update service.
