Description:

JOB SUMMARY:

The School of Business invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in management. The successful candidate will be expected to teach lower- and specialized upper-level courses in management, with a particular focus on introductory management courses, strategic management (theory and practice), and sustainability, as well as possibly business development and entrepreneurship. This position entails teaching both introductory courses that introduce new students to the fundamental concepts and practices, as well as advanced capstone courses that integrate these concepts to develop and execute an organization’s strategic direction. The successful candidate will also be responsible for integrating concepts of business ethics, corporate social responsibility and Indigenous rights into existing courses and potentially new programs. They should possess a broad understanding of business strategy and operations.
Since the courses being taught are both foundational and capstone, they may follow a standardized format across all sections, including a common syllabus, project/simulations, and exams. Applicants should be comfortable working as part of a team to design and deliver these courses.
We seek applicants who share our passion for, and commitment to, excellence in undergraduate teaching in a student-centered environment, and who successfully integrate their scholarship into their teaching. Related to these principles, applicants are expected to contribute to the scholarship of teaching and learning.
Applicants must possess exceptional communication and teaching skills, along with a demonstrable ability to design and develop experiential and applied research opportunities for students. Additionally, the ability to teach across traditional disciplinary boundaries would be an asset.
The successful applicant must be able to incorporate or reflect Indigenous perspectives or ways of teaching and learning into their curriculum.
As a teaching-focused institution, we are seeking a collegial, energetic, and innovative individual with a proven track record of successful teaching at the undergraduate level. The ideal candidate should effectively communicate with students both inside and outside the classroom, demonstrate the ability to teach a variety of undergraduate courses offered by the department; and show enthusiasm for developing new and innovative courses.
Experience and interest in developing experiential learning opportunities, such as internships, study abroad programs, and co-curricular activities, are highly desirable. Demonstrated experience in technology-supported teaching, including hybrid, on-line, and computer-assisted learning, would be an asset.
Applicants should demonstrate a strong record of research productivity aligned with their experience, as well as the ability to establish successful research programs. They should also possess the skill to incorporate their research into applied and experiential learning opportunities for students. The successful candidate will be expected to develop innovative and internationally recognized research programs and secure external funding.
The successful applicant should demonstrable an ability to collaborate effectively with external community stakeholders. We especially welcome applications from Indigenous scholars, educators, or researchers with experience in deracialization or decolonization.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate will have a PhD or DBA in strategic management and sustainability or entrepreneurship or a related field from an AACSB or EQUIS accredited institution. Candidates who demonstrate clear progress towards completion of their PhD will also be considered. The applicant must also have relevant industry experience in at least one of these areas.

Applicant must submit all the below required documents through the online portal:

  • A letter of application (cover letter)
  • A curriculum vitae
  • A teaching dossier (including a teaching philosophy statement and student evaluations)
  • A statement of research interests
  • Two samples of academic scholarship
  • Three letters of reference

Applicants need not identify their country of origin or citizenship; however, all applications must include one of the following statements in their cover letter: “I am a Canadian citizen/permanent resident of Canada”; or, “I am not a Canadian citizen/permanent resident of Canada.” Applications that do not include this information will be deemed incomplete.
Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
