Description:

RPS is currently seeking an Associate Director to join our Building Performance Team at either the Birmingham, London, Manchester or Newcastle office and the role allows for hybrid working.

Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

This is an exciting role for an individual looking to progress their career as an Associate Director leading a Building Physics and Building Performance team where we have an excellent reputation, offering a wealth of expertise in all sectors.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Managing day-to-day activities of a team (mentoring, development and financial control) – across the London and Birmingham offices
  • Managing resources to ensure work gets allocated appropriately and work with the Building Services team leaders in Manchester, Birmingham and Newcastle to deliver their work Building Performance related work on time and to budget
  • Checking the high quality of work of others in all technical aspects of building performance modelling
  • Embed into projects sustainability/ NZC design strategies
  • Working closely with the Operational Director and Technical Directors to develop and implement strategic plans across the UK team
  • Work with other ROS groups to support the architectural design, ESG strategies and Town Planners delivery of their projects
  • Manage performance, quality and workflow of the Building Performance Team
  • Assist in developing and promoting RPS’s multi-discipline capability in the local market
  • Identify opportunities to ensure RPS remains a leader in sustainability in the built environment
  • Work with non-specialist RPS Building Services Engineers to facilitate and encourage the use of the IES-VE Suite of tools by these specific designers
  • Mentor and assist with the development of engineers across the teams
  • Undertake dynamic thermal modelling (IES-VE) analysis
  • Act as Client lead contact for Building Performance related work

To be successful in this role you will most likely you will have experience of leading thermal modelling and energy strategy work on multi-disciplinary projects across a range of sectors. You will be CEng or working towards it and a Level 4 and 5 accredited Energy Assessor (LCEA). You will also have the following:

  • Experienced in NABERS or TM54 design stage operational energy assessments
  • Experienced in preparing high quality reports that clearly and concisely communicate the issues involved and the conclusions as the preparation of sustainability and energy strategies
  • Experienced of undertaking calculations, production of models, specifications and reports, site surveys, construction stage duties
  • Experienced in client liaison and liaison with members of design/construction teams, project management, costing which complied with project briefs
  • Ideally experience of the DfE Education framework building performance and sustainability delivery requirement
