Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is looking for a Associate or Experienced Quality Engineer (1st Shift) to support the 787 Program based out of North Charleston, South Carolina.
The Quality Engineering (QE) team at Boeing South Carolina is looking for talented engineers to join our team. QEs work with other engineering functions and the production team to solve complex problems in the Quality Management System. QEs work close to the product every day and are empowered to think creatively to eliminate defects and improve first pass quality. QEs lead problem solving and root cause corrective action activities, perform advanced data analysis, and report out to leadership at all levels.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Researches contractual and Boeing Quality Management System requirements for applicability to specific proposals and program processes and documentation.
  • Develops sections of quality metrics, design and production certification plans to ensure compliance with contractual, Company and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyzes capability assessments to support supplier selection activities.
  • Participates in various reviews to ensure quality attributes are incorporated into product designs.
  • Performs data analysis to ensure manufacturing and test readiness.
  • Provides material review dispositions for non-conformances.
  • Analyzes non-conformance trends to evaluate effectiveness of corrective actions. Compiles performance reports and other statistical data to ensure specified processes capability levels are achieved.
  • Works under general supervision.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • 3+ years of experience in Quality Engineering or Production Engineering within Aerospace or another highly regulated industry.
  • 3+ years of experience applying Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) or other similar rigorous processes to engineering development and manufacturing/production efforts.
  • 3+ years of experience collecting, organizing and analyzing data, summarizing findings, and developing conclusions.
  • 3+ years of experience working with and partnering with cross-functional teams on projects and initiatives.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • 5+ years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience designing and executing a process control system
  • Experience in a customer-facing role
  • Experience with database management/analytics tools & software (SQL, SAS, MS Access, etc.)
  • Proactive and collaborative mindset with an emphasis on positive relationships
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written
  • Experience working with AS9100 and/or similar QMS standard
