Description:

The Business Analyst is responsible for improving the overall performance of the company through the analysis of operational data. This position involves becoming intimately knowledgeable with the procedures and operations of the various departments of the company. To succeed in this role, the analyst will need to have sharp business instincts, the ability to complete a project from start to finish without supervision in a timely manner in addition to advanced database and scripting knowledge.
We are currently exclusively considering applicants who reside in the immediate or surrounding Montreal area and are able to commute into office when required! Hybrid or Remote opportunities are available for Montreal residents.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Proficiency in SQL, advanced Excel functionality, macros
  • Experience with reporting tools such as Looker
  • Good business sense (eCommerce, purchasing, finance, accounting, statistics, risk management, economics, project management)
  • Experience with applying advanced mathematical concepts and models in the context of business (inventory forecasting, price elasticity, statistics, etc)
  • Solid oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to perform difficult analytical tasks with little supervision
  • Ability to interface effectively with teammates and other business units
  • Ability to work well independently or with a team
  • Ability to develop methodologies and approaches for new tasks and projects
  • Must be organized with a strong attention to detail

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with techniques and tools relevant to data and business intelligence analysis, including a working knowledge of relational databases
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of work experience

Responsibilities:

  • Identify through data analysis inefficiencies and opportunities within the companies various operations including: merchandising, marketing, customer service, fulfillment operations, and finance.
  • Develop solutions to inefficiencies and opportunities identified. This will involve:
  • Collaborating with technical teams on the development of internal tools
  • Communicating and negotiating directly with vendors
  • Designing new internal processes and protocols
  • Recommending new strategies for various departments
  • Perform ad-hoc data extraction, analysis, and interpretation
  • Assist the data warehouse team in gathering requirements, designing, testing, and supporting the development of the data warehouse
  • Design and automate routine and self-service reporting solutions in support of strategic company initiatives
