The successful applicant will work in compliance with all relevant and applicable legislation and Hospital Policies and Procedures, will practice the Bluewater Health Standards of Performance Excellence and will fulfill their role within the Attendance Support Program parameters. The successful applicant will also possess effective communication and interpersonal skills, will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and will have strong attention to detail and accuracy.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Grade 12 graduate or equivalent required
  • College Diploma in Medical or Office Administration preferred

SKILL, ABILITY AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Beginner level proficiency using the MS Office Suite of products required
  • Accurate Computer keyboarding skills required
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology required
  • Recent patient registration experience preferred
  • Previous clerical experience in a medical setting preferred
  • Experience working with Staff Scheduling module and Collective Agreements preferred
  • Recent experience as a Ward Clerk preferred
  • Previous experience with surgical bookings and scheduling in a surgical setting preferred
  • Experience with surgical wait times and WTIS system preferred
  • Experience with Medsurg Picses and Novari preferred
  • Ability to multitask and manage competing demands in a fast paced environment required

Responsibilities:

  • Areas of work are Ambulatory Care, Oncology, Endoscopy and Operating Room
  • Completes registration, reception and clerical tasks applicable to the needs of the departments (Ambulatory Care, Operating Room, Oncology & Endoscopy)
  • Schedules appointments for patients following appropriate guidelines
  • Coordinate staffing functions as directed
  • Coverage in all areas of responsibility, and maintaining proficiency
  • Participates in unit/department and Hospital Quality Improvement initiatives
  • Completes continuing education requirements as necessary
  • Other related duties as assigned
