Description:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two-year college diploma in public relations, communications or journalism.
  • Experience writing compelling messages that led to measurable results.
  • A proven background of writing effective messages suited to the specific platforms and unique key audiences.
  • Exceptional time management skills are required. The person in this position requires the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines, and they must have excellent writing and communications skills combined with the ability to apply logical thinking within a creative context. Accuracy is essential.
  • The Communications Specialist must possess an aptitude for building and nurturing relationships and for communicating comfortably and confidently with the many clients across campus whose marketing and communications needs we support, whether face to face, by email and on the phone, or through video meetings.
  • This position involves a lot of writing, which inherently is a creative process. Work must appeal to diverse audiences, capture the attention of a wide range of people or be written for a target, niche audience as required.
  • This position supports Lethbridge College’s brand and reputation management. The messaging provided by the Communications office is instrumental in elevating the college’s brand and reputation among our many audiences including employees, potential students, government, donors, industry and community partners.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • University degree or other professional training and education is desirable.
  • Communications work experience in a post-secondary setting or understanding of post-secondary issues and environment is preferred.
  • Experience with Office 365 collaborative tools, project planning software, Photoshop, and videography skills would be assets.
