Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the PICS Communications Manager, the Communications Specialist will have the opportunity work closely with PICS staff, senior climate researchers, and stakeholders across the province to contribute to the implementation of PICS strategic plan and communication strategy. As an experienced communications professional and masterful storyteller, the Communications Specialist is creative and skilled at written, digital, visual, and auditory mediums, combined with a solid understanding of communication strategies.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Support the implementation of PICS’ communications plan, including branding, social media strategy, and development of website content
- Collaborate in the design of new communications activities/products that support PICS’ communications strategy
- Produce a range of content, including project communications plans, newsletters, briefing materials, news stories, media releases, website and social media content, photos, videos, audio, and other visuals
- Research, write, and edit accurately and on deadline for multiple platforms
- Assist with website content management
- Promote and support PICS events through communications functions and channels
- Support the Communications Manager with media monitoring, issues management, and media responses
- Support the evaluation of communication initiatives by analyzing metrics and other data
- Work with Communications Manager to develop and execute standard operating procedures for day-to-day communications support
- Independently manage communications projects and contracts, develop strong workflows and progress reports
- Support team initiatives and goals through communication planning and execution
- Support the evaluation of communication activities, including annual reports
