Salary Range - $68.800 - $98.470 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Health System Executive, People, Quality, Practice and Chief Nurse Executive, the Director of People Services partners with leaders across Lakeridge Health (LH) to drive strategic growth and transformation in pursuit of our vision One System, Best Health for the people of Durham Region. This role contributes by ensuring excellence in the delivery of people centered services, programs, and initiatives, that create a safe, healthy and productive workplace, that is inclusive, equitable and representative of the diversity of our communities.
Director of People Services provides oversight & accountability for operations in the following services and areas of focus: Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, Safety, Occupational Health, Abilities Management, Payroll, HR Technology and Workforce Analytics, Labour Relations & Human Resources Business Partners.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters of Business Administration or MA/MS in human resources or related field preferred. Bachelor Degree from a related Discipline required.
  • Designation in human resources, safety or related field preferred
  • A minimum of 8 years of practical related Human Resources experience, with at least five years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources.
  • Experience in a leadership role within a unionized environment
  • Experience in a healthcare environment an asset.
  • Experience with HR technology solutions, organizational compensation systems, delivery of pension and benefits programs, payroll
  • Strong understanding of Human Resources related policies, practices, and legislation.
  • Knowledge and experience integrating principles of an inclusion diversity and equity lens into HR processes and practices and strong understand of the Ontario Human Rights Code.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation and standards, including but not limited to the Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act, WSIB Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, Inclusion Diversity and Equity.
  • Proven leadership skills with demonstrated customer service focus and quality Improvement training or experience.
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written, with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, the public and other organizations.
  • Superior creativity, analytical skills, and the ability to prioritize and manage a high volume and varied workload.
  • Demonstrated experience in the preparation of policies, hiring and staff performance management.
  • Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance to LH standards.
  • Exercise initiative and good judgement with ability to multi-task.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health’s comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety and environmental safety, and participation in regular in-service sessions;

Responsibilities:

  • Proactive workforce planning and development of pathways for people to LH, aligned with anticipated needs and understanding of internal and external factors.
  • Develops and implements Human Resources Programs and Strategies
  • Directs the planning process for Health and Safety
  • Establishes and maintains quality management initiatives that are aligned with established LH Standards.
  • Provides leadership and effective management of staff
  • Maintains responsibility for managing departmental budgets.
  • Performs responsibilities, which advance and support Lakeridge Health’s mission/vision and strategic directions.
  • Works in compliance of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations, reporting hazards, deficiencies, and contraventions of the Act, in a timely manner
  • Performs cross-functional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or requested.
