Description:

As a core component of the Strategic Missions and Technologies Executive Office team, the Communications team is looking for an Executive Communications Manager to lead product storytelling efforts through compelling, concise, and informative technical product demonstrations. Driving new sectors of Microsoft future growth, our product portfolio includes mission engineering, telecommunications, quantum computing, and space.
The primary purpose of this specialized role is to lead the development of product demonstrations (recorded and live) for a range of audiences (including both technical and non-technical) in support of senior executive presentations ranging from private briefings in C-suite conference rooms to keynotes at large-scale conferences.

REQUIRED/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Finance, or related field AND 4+ years Communications, Marketing Operations, Field Operations, Program Management, Project Management, or related experience
  • OR equivalent experience.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
  • This position requires verification of citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local U.S. government agency customers and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. To meet this legal requirement, and as a condition of employment, the successful candidate’s citizenship will be verified with a valid passport.

ADDITIONAL OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of experience in developing successful technical product marketing and the development of stage-worthy technical product demonstrations.
  • 5+ years of experience in software development, cloud computing, or similar.
  • 5+ years of experience in the production of customer-ready product videos, including collaboration with customers and partners.
  • Competent in producing high-quality narratives that demonstrate the benefits and advantages of complex technology offerings.
  • Proficient with instructional content development and delivery.
  • Experience interacting with senior leaders of the organization to present/defend/clarify concerns or issues.
  • Organizational agility and cross-group collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with key constituencies Microsoft to include PR, Corporate Communications, CELA, Investor Relations, Engineering, Marketing, and more. The ability to source data and compile necessary content from partner organizations is critical.
    Communications IC4 - The typical base pay range for this full-time role across the U.S. is USD $101,200 - $194,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $130,000 - $213,200 per year.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate cross-group development of product value propositions in close coordination with respective engineering and marketing teams with an emphasis on developing compelling stories to engage the audience and drive them to act.
  • Coach engineering and marketing team subject matter experts to develop presentation skills needed to articulate a compelling story and motivate audiences to act.
  • Create storyboards and scripts that find the most successful and succinct path through a product demonstration to successfully highlight its clear advantages relative to competing products.
  • Coordinate production of graphical and video assets to support product storytelling aligned with product truth and aspirations.
  • Research and rapidly comprehend advanced technical details of a diverse portfolio of products and technologies, and then up-level this understanding to develop compelling stories that a target audience will readily comprehend.Lead reviews of deliverables with senior executives to drive completion in as few review cycles as possible while still achieving high-quality deliverables and desired outcomes.
