Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) is looking for an Experienced Quality Engineer to join our team in Berkeley, MO.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical field
  • 3+ years of Statistical Process Control (SPC) experience
  • Experience with Composite Manufacturing
  • Experience with statistical analysis and process control, Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) utilizing six sigma techniques and AS9100 standards

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • First Article Inspection (FAI) experience
  • Experience with quality auditing

Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Relocation:
Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement advanced quality control processes specific to composite materials to ensure the highest standards are met in the production of aerospace components.
  • Conduct comprehensive inspections and audits of composite materials at various stages of the manufacturing process.
  • Perform First Article Inspection (FAI) activities for composite components to verify manufacturing processes’ capability in meeting specified requirements.
  • Lead & train Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodologies tailored for composites to monitor and control manufacturing processes effectively.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and supply chain teams to establish and maintain quality standards for composite materials, processes, and finished products.
  • Lead root cause analysis investigations for quality issues related to composite components and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Utilize statistical analysis and quality tools specific to composites to monitor and improve production processes.
  • Provide mentorship and training to junior quality engineers and production staff with a focus on composite materials.
  • Stay current with industry best practices, standards, and regulations related to aerospace composite material quality assurance.
