Job Title: Graphic Designer

Salary Band: 5 ($56,000 - $84,000 CAD)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Related post-secondary education (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in production design and layout (print and digital)
- Advanced understanding of clear design, health communications, adult education and accessible design
- Experience in designing information in different formats (e.g., video, infographics)
- Thorough understanding of typesetting/text layout and working with brand standards, style sheets and templates
- Skilled at effective design, graphic balance, and the impact of layout and messaging in communication
- Knowledge of the creative and technical design of print production is essential
- Working knowledge of AODA and other accessibility standards
- Interpersonal skills to facilitate effective working relationships among staff and clients.
- Understanding of branding and identity applications
- Experience in collaborating within a creative team.
- Robust design portfolio
- Highly organized to successfully manage a varied and sizeable workload
- Ability to successfully manage shifting priorities and multiple projects in their queue. Impeccable attention to detail.
- Proficient with Adobe Creative Cloud suite of applications with a focus on In Design, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat
- Working knowledge of MS Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint) and comfortable and interested in learning new platforms/software.
- Works in compliance with The Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations
- Experience working with an equity, diversity, and inclusion lens
- Bilingualism in English and French is considered an asset
Responsibilities:
- Execute the creative development of a variety of educational materials for cancer information in both print and digital formats.
- Responsible for graphic design and production working with the Cancer Information Project Manager, including successful job flow, tracking each job through to completion and delivery.
- Deliver accurate work within agreed project timelines.
- Develop creative concepts, working alongside peers and providing guidance to internal and external stakeholders on occasion.
- Support conceptual and stylistic growth for the design team and organization as a whole.
- Support continuous learning for design team by evaluating, communicating, and enhancing processes.
- Accountable for ensuring that materials adhere to clear design and health literacy principles so they meet the needs of people living with cancer while also promoting and protecting the integrity of the brand across creative channels
- Foster a working environment that highlights the talents and strengths of colleagues.
- Actively contribute to our culture of justice, belonging, equity, diversity, and inclusion by ensuring that all staff feel represented and heard regardless of their gender, age, religion, ethnicity, and nationality or race.
