Position Summary
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Human Resources, the Human Resources Administrator will be an integral part of the HR team. You will be responsible for the accurate administration of the HR, records, and information. You will perform data entry, employee files administration, as well as ensuring relevant HR information is kept up to date. You will work closely with the HR and Payroll team members, building collaborative working relationships and working proactively to resolve issues that may arise. You will conduct yourself in a professional manner, be a trusted representative of the DI and provide exceptional service.
Time Commitment
This is a full-time position comprised of normal business weekday hours, however there will be requirements to be available and flexible from time to time outside normal business hours as the need arises. Schedule may be altered at the discretion of management.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Accurate data entry into Ceridian Dayforce (hires, terminations, changes)
  • Assist HR & Payroll to process payroll through semi-monthly payroll cycles for approx. 400 hourly and salary paid employees.
  • Complete payroll data entry in Dayforce such as garnishments, payroll elections, auto deposit and tax information, etc.
  • Ensure hours are categorized and allotted to the correct program codes
  • Review time sheets for work hours and paid time off accuracy
  • Respond to employee and government inquiries regarding payroll
  • Maintain employee payroll files and electronic profiles in Dayforce
  • Participate and learn updates to processes and to ensure they are efficient and support providing the best possible service to employees
  • Support the HR advisors and Coordinator, Payroll & Benefits in administering benefit programs
  • Complete employee files and weekly scanning
  • Must be willing to participate in identified audits and projects as well as other administrative tasks as required.

Required Competencies and Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A certificate in HR and Payroll Administration or a diploma or degree in in a relevant field (business administration, accounting, etc.) would be considered an asset
  • 3 years of HR or payroll processing experience
  • 1 year experience with Dayforce or a similar web-based payroll platform is preferred
  • Energetic and self-directed, with effective time management and organizational skills including the ability to deal with several priorities at the same time
  • Strong strategically focused analytical skills with a high degree of due diligence and common sense
  • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written
  • Proficient in Office 365 and MS Office with intermediate level excel skills
  • Eager to learn new systems and adopt improved best practices
  • Must demonstrate initiative and work autonomously

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Well-developed communications skills with the ability to relate effectively with a wide range of people, positively influencing outcomes and obtaining cooperation
  • Well organized with the ability to plan work, cope with conflicting work pressures, establish appropriate priorities, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to self-direct and work with minimal supervision, manage time and multiple tasks to accomplish a variety of assignments with conflicting priorities with competing demands
  • Experience working in a 24/7 operation would be an asset.
  • Ability to use metrics and data to inform leaders about human capital trends and areas of opportunity
  • Ability to exercise effective judgment and sensitivity to changing needs and business situations.
  • Must be able to objectively assess a multitude of situations, work with the business to influence leaders/decision makers to yield positive impact to the business
