We’re looking for a superstar International Import Specialist to join our world-class client in the dynamic Customs Brokerage industry. As a go-getter with a minimum of five years’ experience, you’ll play a key role in ensuring seamless international imports.
Our client is dedicated to hiring and professionally developing top talent in the industry and are looking for an experienced self starter to join their international imports team. This role will be responsible for liaising with Canadian importers to ensure alignment with all federal rules and regulatory requirements, such as CBSA and HTS tariff coding systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures accurate and timely release of SWI/IID shipments on various modes of transport; classifies, rates, and clears shipments.
  • Verifies documentation for all release conditions and compliance (i.e. Free Trade Agreement certificates); contacts clients/carriers directly for missing documentation/information/instructions.
  • Prioritizes tasks in alignment with client demands, customs requirements and company standards.
  • Analyzes department process flow, constantly looking for areas to improve.
  • Conducts HTS tariff reviews and update, approves and releases information for billing as required.
  • Acts as a customer service advocate in solving issues and ensuring consistent service that meets and exceeds expectations.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally with team members in day-to-day operations, including setting priorities, organizing, and scheduling work, problem-solving and decision-making, participating in meetings and handling special projects as assigned.
  • Proficient in use of modern information technology and systems.

The successful candidate has:

  • Minimum five years of experience in customs brokerage.
  • CCS/CTCS certification or equivalent
  • Technical knowledge of tariff classification and overall customs regulations, including rules of origin, valuation, trade agreements, HS tariff and import regulatory requirements.
  • Exposure and understanding of Participating Government Agency (PGA) requirements.
  • Ability to identify exposure to risk within the Customs environment.
  • Strong technology & MS Office skills (especially Excel)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills to deal effectively internally and externally with clients, team members and CBSA.
  • Descartes experience an asset.

Compensation and benefits:

  • The discussed salary range is $50,000-$65,000 depending on experience.
  • Candidates with additional experience and higher compensation expectations may also be considered.
