Description:

Candidates must be eligible for their own GMC registration - MFT cannot support GMC Sponsorship for vacancies that are for less than 12 months fixed term.
We’re recruiting for both Junior and Senior Clinical Fellows (Locally Employed Doctors (LEDs)) to join our team. The successful candidates will be responsible for the daily review and management of critically ill adult patients in the critical care department. The candidates will be based on the Intensive Care and High Dependency Units, but will also be responsible for reviewing and managing critically ill patients throughout the hospital, primarily on the wards and in the emergency department. The rotation in a speciality would reflect the training ambition and needs of the fellow. The applicant will also be part of an on-call critical care rota on a full shift basis on a EWTD compliant rota. Consultant supervision will be provided at all times, and consultants are present on the Intensive Care unit for a minimum of 16 hours per day. Opportunity to spend time in cardiac ITU may also exist depending on the training needs of the applicant and service requirements.
Under the supervision of the critical care consultants you will assist in the assessment, admission, day-to-day management, investigation, practical procedures and final discharge of patients. Junior LEDs will be expected to work at a Core Trainee level, this post is suitable for applicants following Foundation training or Core Specialty Training. Senior LEDs will be expected to work at the level of a Specialty Registrar, with increased responsibility for assessment and management of unwell patients in the ITU and hospital, and for the supervision of more junior trainees. They will be supported in this by the consultant body.
Some administrative work such as referral letters is part of the usual workload. In addition active participation in audit is expected. Weekly teaching is compulsory unless on night duties or leave is granted, and provision is made for this in the rota.
