We have an exciting opportunity to work as an Orange Door Hub Practitioner within the state’s specialist family violence service. The Orange Door is a family violence specialist service that provides first response to those seeking assistance after family violence and child well-being concerns. While our primary focus is working with people using violence, practitioners are required to work from an integrated approach, also assisting victims/survivors and children.

THE ORANGE DOOR:

The Orange Door aims to support individuals and families experiencing family violence by providing a central access point to services tailored to their unique needs. Our key priority is to reduce the risk of harm associated with controlling, violent, and abusive behaviour through comprehensive risk assessment and management strategies. We achieve this by:

  • Providing a visible contact point for individuals seeking specialist support.
  • Assisting people in identifying family violence and child well-being issues.
  • Offering advice based on contemporary risk assessment tools and guidance.
  • Providing specialist support and tailored advice for victims, families, children, and people using violence.
  • Coordinating access to support services.
  • Maintaining a system-wide view of service capacity, client experience, and outcomes.

Responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide short-term support to individuals impacted by family violence, including advice and referrals.
  • Focus on risk management, safety planning, and making appropriate referrals.
  • Conduct child wellbeing checks and complete child wellbeing assessments.
  • Complete risk assessments on people using violence.
  • Complete MARAM’s with Victim Survivors.
  • Adhere to documentation and record keeping requirements.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL HAVE:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, or related behavioural sciences at the degree level with substantial experience or an associate diploma level with substantial experience in the relevant service stream.
  • Demonstrated experience working with children, families, and family violence cases with complex needs and risk issues.
  • Resilience to work with and support clients who have been exposed to trauma.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, assess, and prioritise risks and needs of clients using a whole-family approach.
