About the Company
Davidson are currently working with a state government client who are seeking an experienced Paralegal for a state government client.
About the Roles
You will undertake the assessment of employment screening applications and provide legal and/or procedural advice to internal/external stakeholders in relation to the screening provisions.
- Undertake the assessment of employment screening applications where submissions have not been invited, and prepare employment screening applications for assessment by Legal Officers PO3 or Senior Legal Officers PO4, including:
- reviewing file information, and identifying and requesting further information if required
- applying relevant legislative knowledge and legal experience to conduct a risk assessment in the best interests of children and young people.
- obtaining oral submissions from applicants if required
- conducting an in-depth analysis of file information to determine the sufficiency of evidence to support a recommendation, and
- writing recommendations with respect to the eligibility of applicants Case manage files to ensure appropriate prioritisation and the efficient and timely conduct of matters.

- Prepare reports, correspondence, submissions, and documents as required for internal and external stakeholders
- Conduct relevant research and maintain an up-to-date and in-depth knowledge of the relevant governing legislation. Provide advice to internal stakeholders on legislative, procedural and/or administrative matters in relation to the screening provisions
- Provide information to external stakeholders in response to enquiries on a range of legislative and procedural matters relating to screening provisions.
- Actively participate in the implementation of management policy and assist in the management of change within the area, including encouraging staff to embrace changes with a focus on achieving the objectives.
Role fit
- Mandatory- Possession of a relevant law degree from a recognised tertiary institution.
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role within administrative law or criminal law, child protection, domestic and family violence, mental health, social work, drug and alcohol abuse.
The Benefits
- $46.21 per hour + Super (Agency Contractor)
- Contract up to 30 th June 2024, possible extension
