The Reliability & Resilience (R&R) team is dedicated to driving measurable improvement in Problem Management space to reduce the negative customer impact of outages through avoidance or mitigation.
We are looking for a Principal Software Engineering Manager with the right mix of people management, software development, on-line services experience, and passion for quality to envision, design, and deliver Microsoft 365 (M365) Enterprise + Cloud service offerings.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
• OR equivalent experience.
• 6+ years of experience in Software Engineering, DevOps, Site Reliability engineering or similar roles directly supporting development and quality in a product engineering team environment.
• 3+ years experience planning, designing, implementing, and delivering large projects spanning multiple engineers as the primary owner.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• 5+ years people management experience.
• Committed to learning new technologies and solving complex problems, and Site Reliability Engineering Practices.
• Experience with working in a team, including coordinating large projects, communicating well, and exercising initiative when presented with problems.
• Practical experience running large scale online systems.
  Software Engineering M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.

• Build, foster, grow, and retain a team of high-performing Site Reliability Engineers with a diverse set of skills and experiences. Provide mentorship and coaching to engineers both in, and beyond, your team.
• Lead the Problem Management charter with both process, architecture, and execution strategies, ensuring we have a closed loop from detection to resolution.
• Proactively identify and resolve people, process and technology issues to reduce outages impact for end users.
• Review existing processes and tools that provide operational data insights into Problem Management and service quality to Engineering and Product teams.
