Pick Everard are looking to appoint an ambitious Project Manager for our growing team at Porton Down, Saliisbury.
From this base, we work on an exciting array of projects for one of our prestigious government clients.
In this role, you will become an essential part of our Project Management team, helping to deliver a range of projects as part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team.

Please note, that due to this role being for a government client, security clearance will be mandatory, which can take up to 3 months to complete on securing the role with us.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience in a similar role in the construction environment, preferably within defence or similar
  • Prince 2 (or APM) Foundation/Practitioner
  • A working Knowledge of the NEC EEC Suite of contracts
  • Qualified to a HNC or Diploma level (M & E or BCE) or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of the RIBA stages
  • Experienced and successful in working in a client focused environment
  • Hold a current drivers licence
  • An understanding of BIM Technology
  • Security Clearance is required (must be a British passport holder).
  • Member of a construction related professional body, such as RICS, CIOB, CIBSE, etc.is desirable
  • Ability to control day to day programming and planning
  • Ability to monitor progress and expenditure of projects
  • Have a clear understanding of risk management including identification, management, mitigation and risk transfer
  • A good understanding of IT including Microsoft Word, Excel and Project
  • Bid writing and presentation skills
  • A team player with a desire to drive success

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and monitor the project
  • Produce the Project Initiation Document, Project Execution Plan and Post Project Evaluation Report
  • Agree any delegation and use of project assurance roles required by the Project Board
  • Prepare/highlight reports in conjunction with other members of the team and agree them with the Project Board
  • Manage project risks, including the development of a risk register and any contingency plans, produce a ‘project level’ programme
  • Agree technical, commercial and quality strategy with appropriate members of the Project Board and assurance team
  • Take responsibility for overall progress and use of resources, and initiate corrective action where necessary
  • Ensure appropriate ongoing engagement with all stakeholders and external accreditation partners
  • Manage the delivery of the required outcomes
  • Direct and motivate the project team
  • Be responsible for change control and any required Configuration Management
  • Liaise with the Project Board or its appointed project assurance roles to assure the overall direction and integrity of the project
  • Undertake contract and construction management when necessary
  • Have a strategic understanding of the business needs and be able to make timely decision and assist development of best practice across all projects
  • Shape/influence supplier thinking in line with the overall business and client objectives
  • Prepare any Follow-on Action Recommendations required
  • Initiate activities to comply with and deliver the Integrated Completion Plan (ICP) and any Government Soft Landings (GSL) requirements
