DEPARTMENT INFORMATION

The Department of Infrastructure (INF) provides high quality services to the public and Government of the Northwest Territories’ (GNWT) departments, boards and agencies including the planning, design, construction, acquisition, operation and maintenance of public transportation infrastructure and the buildings, works and equipment required for the GNWT to deliver its programs and services. INF makes essential petroleum products available for sale to the public where these products are not provided by the private sector, and promotes the development and increased use of energy efficient technologies. INF also regulates electrical and mechanical safety services and licenses individuals and vehicles operating in the territory.

JOB INFORMATION

The Government of the Northwest Territories is seeking a Project Manager, Structures. In this full-time, on-site position you will be working in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, and reporting to the Manager, Structures Section - Bridges.
You will be required to lead the project teams in the design, maintenance, rehabilitation, and construction of bridges and culverts, as well as other transportation structures. Teams may be comprised of personnel from within the Section, Division or the Department, Territorial and Federal regulatory agency staff, consulting engineers, fabricators, material suppliers and construction contractors. It is also required to travel to project sites up to 20 times per year. Urgent situations may result in minimal notice prior to departure.
The results and products of this position will directly affect the safety of the public using the territory’s highway infrastructure and the environment. Decisions and recommendations will govern the safety, operational efficiency, cost effectiveness, and quality of bridges and culverts in the territory.
Some of the responsibilities include, managing project construction stages, project compliance with governing authorities and perform associated project management tasks.
Typically attained by. Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with a minimum 5 years of relevant and progressive experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
