JOB DESCRIPTION:
Research Analyst I, Global Thermal Coal
We are hiring for a Junior Research Analyst with 1 to 3 years of experience researching coal, iron ore, steel or manganese. The Research Analyst I, Global Thermal Coal is expected to work within the McCloskey team to perform research and insight functions, and additional analysis, including contributions to consulting projects.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
- Graduate degree in mathematics, economics, statistics, international relations, or an industry-related field required.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
1 to 3 years of experience researching coal, iron ore, steel or manganese, or relevant related research, or within the mining industry, or its related markets.
OTHER SKILLS:
- Strong writing ability is crucial and is examined during the interview process.
- Strong numerical and data analytical skills
- Advanced proficiency with MS Office applications required (Excel, Word and PowerPoint). Knowledge of Python, PowerBI, Tableau, and VBA advantageous.
Responsibilities:
- Help maintain regular data deliverables.
- Contribute to or author country/ regional reports for coal.
- Contribute to weekly, monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc deliverables.
- Help develop new deliverables, including data visualizations in PowerBI.
- Periodically contribute to work outside of thermal coal, (e.g. iron ore, manganese) as it relates to Southern Africa.
- Contribute to ad hoc team needs, such as social media, webinars, and events.
