Open communication and daily presentations are natural to you.

  • An academic degree in economics, business administration, engineering or similar. Other educational backgrounds are welcome
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant professional work experience within large international organizations, preferably energy industry
  • Minimum 5 years of professional work experience in project management especially wind projects in realization and/or development, or comparable projects. Working knowledge from the offshore wind industry is considered being an advantage.
  • Your career has exposed you to tasks at the intersection of commercial, regulatory and technical topics
  • Ability to adapt to different national legislations and tender rules
  • Experience in working with and presenting to Senior Management
  • Excellent Communication skills in English both verbally and written

Responsibilities:

You will report to the Head of Pipeline Development who holds the responsibility for the development of the early offshore project pipeline. As a (Senior) Business Development Manager Offshore you will lead the development and implementation the Offshore Strategy, including the identification, evaluation and selection of offshore bid, development and acquisition opportunities. You will also lead project acquisition processes, lead early project development works and proactively drive regulatory topics with internal and external stakeholders.
In the successful execution of these tasks, you will often lead multi-disciplinary teams of internal and external colleagues from different domains (e. g. Bids, Bid Strategy, Technical, Permit, Public and Regulatory Affairs, Valuation, Transaction Management, Risk, Strategy) across nine North-Western European offshore markets. You will proactively liase with top management regarding key decisions.
In Pipeline Development, we strive to hire a collaborative generalist who will work on three focus areas:

Focus area one: The Offshore Project Pipeline Strategy

  • Lead teams of Strategy advisors and analysts to formulate and implement the offshore wind strategy, especially drive the market focus and project selection to arrive at our targeted project portfolio
  • Lead the identification and communication of resource needs and key success factors that are required to win competitive tenders and/or to develop projects successfully
  • Align with internal stakeholders regarding the implementation of the strategy, i. e. the adjustment of resources and the development of new capabilities

Focus area two: Acquisitions and early Project Development

  • Pursue project acquisition opportunities in close collaboration with the Transaction Management and M&A teams
  • Lead the commercial and technical due diligence during project acquisition processes, which involves leading teams of engineers and analysts in order to derive project valuations
  • Represent Offshore Development in the contract design and negotiation, e. g. ensuring that roles and responsibilities are distributed according to our interests
  • Prepare the offshore development organization for the onboarding of new projects
  • Take the project manager role in early project development works for project opportunities.

Focus area three: Market Development

  • Monitor regulatory frameworks and changes and derive implications for our business
  • Lead the development of business strategies for selected regulatory challenges across our core markets
  • Align the business strategy and respective positioning with relevant stakeholders in the Vattenfall Group
  • Ensure the external representation and communication of our business strategies together with the Public and Regulatory Affairs teams
  • Represent our interests towards a wide range of national and EU stakeholders, including branch organizations, regulators, grid operators and competitors

  • …drive the standardization of our ways of working within the Pipeline Development team and also at the interface to other teams
  • Build a strong network of contacts throughout the whole Vattenfall organization
