The Senior Electric Drives Engineer is a technical expert for their assigned components and is responsible for the development of requirements, product design reviews, DFMEA, DVP execution (DV and PV Phase) in collaboration with suppliers and TRATON GROUP brands. They further cascade component level cross functional issues to vehicle architecture, controls and software team, procurement, manufacturing, service and are responsible for resolving relevant issues found during bench and vehicle level development, validation, and in production.
Responsibilities:
- This role includes the Design Validation (DV) and the Processes Verification (PV) for different architectures for all types of Electric Propulsion and Electric Power Take Off components.
- The engineer will populate and review I/O’s relevant to ePropulsion architecture and application plan for cross functional alignment.
- Also, this role will provide technical assistance to other cross functional areas for E-Motor, Inverter & Power Electronics relevant to Procurement, Manufacturing, Assembly, Service and Warranty organizations.
- The Engineer will support prototype build and test activities associated with their respective components, subsystem and project.
- He/she will stay abreast of new e-Motors/Inverters/Electronics technology including Benchmarking and cascade regional requirements in global competence circle.
- The Engineer will participate in Electric Drives technical roadmap and develop different concepts (virtual and experimental) for Propulsion System and Power Take Off System to meet its life and quality requirements.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
- At least 8 years of experience in product design/development
- At least 1 year leading others in engineer/design activities
OR
- Master’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
- At least 6 years of experience in product design/development
- At least 1 year leading others in engineer/design activities
OR
- PhD in Engineering or Engineering Technology
- At least 3 years of experience in product design/development
- At least 1 year leading others in engineer/design activities
Additional Requirements:
- Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)
Desired Skills:
- 5 years of experience in propulsion components e.g., Inverter and/or eMotor
- 5 years of experience in product design, releasing, development and validation
- Extensive knowledge in the design of Propulsion electric components e.g., ECU’s, TCU’s
- Solid understanding in the field of power electronics and electric drive modules technology
- Experience in Inverter and eMotor design for manufacture is a plus for this role
- Experience with Design, Simulation, Microsoft Office and Requirements Management tools (e.g., Excel, Powerpoint, Project, Team Center, Matlab / Simulink, Jira)
