Description:

Are you interested in working on a high-scale distributed data system? Do you want to apply that building a top tier metric solution for use across Microsoft and Azure? On the Azure Monitor Metrics team, we build solutions that process and provide insights in near real-time from the largest data sets in the world. Microsoft is partnering heavily within the industry on OTEL (Office Telemetry) and bringing the value it provides throughout the offerings.

Our team develops a system that delivers:

  • Low latency data ingestion and processing capability
  • Efficient time series compression and storage
  • Scalable query capabilities across large datasets
  • An innovative time series optimized query language

REQUIRED/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years industry development experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • Design and coding skills with architecture at scale experience
  • Experience delivering online services

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure, AWS, or similar cloud computing platform(s)
  • Familiarity with stream or big data data processing systems such as Apache Storm, Flink, Spark or related
  • Knowledge of telemetry systems such as Prometheus, InfluxDB or related
  • Experience working in C# or building applications on Service Fabric
  • Understanding of OTEL (Office Telemetry) specifically related to the metrics data model and underlying concepts
    Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will shape the future of the metric system by designing and developing high impact features for our customers. You will participate in all stages of our planning and engineering life cycle to enable maximum influence on the product.
