Job Description
The Technology Consultant will support the seller in implementer level engagements related to Rockwell Automation’s portfolio. This domain expert has deep technology knowledge within one or more assigned focus areas, which correlate to competency plans. The Technology Consultant for Software & Control is viewed by the client as someone who can ensure a successful implementation of a Rockwell Automation solution. May be required earlier in the buyer’s journey to assist in demonstrating our capability.

The Technology Consultant is responsible for increasing Rockwell Automation components sales at targeted new and existing customers, within a defined geographic territory.

  • Focus is on market development, conversion opportunities, planning and implementation of product launches and promotions, training sales representatives and distribution, providing technical sales assistance, market analysis, market intelligence, strategic guidance, and communication within the company.
  • Prepare and ensure implementation of annual sales plan for assigned products.
  • Lead the brand in preparing and implementing sales strategies required to achieve planned volumes and market share objectives.
  • Utilize customer relationship management (CRM) tool for managing a disciplined approach to growing the business.
  • Provide critical input back to the product business unit.
  • Stay abreast of current technology to be recognized as the local leader in the specified technology.
  • Develop extensive knowledge of competitive products and marketing activities.
  • Participate in exhibitions and seminars.
  • Update customers on new products and technology.
  • Collaborate with other product division technology consultants to leverage best practices.
  • Available to regularly travel within and outside the assigned geography.

Main Responsibilities:
1. Analyze client technical issues in their focus area(s).
2. Establish credibility and relationship with client through technical and functional expertise.
3. Compile and present technical solution providing guidance and recommendations.
4. Assist client implementing technical solution using Rockwell Automation’s portfolio.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Engineering, another related technical field or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of related experience including 2 plus years of direct sales, preferably in a selling environment that entailed products and services.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to manage the sales process. Experience with channel and relationship building is required.
