Boston Children’s Hospital’s EHR system will be consolidated from two systems (Cerner and Epic) into a single one by Epic. Using Epic’s EHR software, the hospital will embrace an enhanced model of care centered on readily available health information. This 18-month implementation of a new, unified EHR platform is an enterprise initiative for the hospital that will further strengthen the care we provide to patients and families.

This SR IT Epic Analyst will be responsible for:

  • Serves as a subject-matter expert with deep knowledge of the core Epic application, related non-Epic products/applications and the supported operational processes. Work typically focuses on multiple areas of a broad process within the supported application, most often requiring certification in a second core Epic application. Solutions are often complex and may involve new implementations of whole builds, new functionality or features, new vendors, and/or multiple or new integration points across Epic and non-Epic systems with broad implications for user groups.
  • Applying a consultative approach, engages internal subject-matter experts in operations to understand current and anticipated operational needs. Conducts extensive technology and operations analyses to identify root causes of complex problems. Identifies implications, brainstorms solutions and assesses the best option among many.
  • Participates in analyzing tickets and requests to identify need for project-based work. Leads or investigates and resolves complex tickets or requests that: cross supported applications, encompass a broader process and/or are difficult to initially define. Resolves more advanced issues related to vendor peripheral device support, as appropriate.
  • Performs advanced configuration or customization, as necessary, to address business or clinical needs. Modifies builds incorporating significant edits, whole new functionality, numerous crossapplication integrations, complex logic, creation of new templates based on existing standards. Such changes characteristically impact large numbers and all levels of users and may affect system responsibilities and/or rights of providers with implications for patient admitting, downstream billing.
  • Manages the implementation of supported core application changes with third party, Epic-eligible vendors and/or internal proprietary applications to ensure integration. Researches and analyzes the functionality of vendor and internally developed applications. Coordinates Epic integration requirements for nonEpic applications with the appropriate IT team in conjunction with vendor support. Maintains, upgrades and tests associated third party integrations.
  • Guides less experienced team members in necessary build and testing.
  • May attend and present at external forums.

In order to qualify, you must have:

  • Bachelor’s DegreeAn Associate’s Degree with an additional 2 years of related experience or a high school diploma/GED with an additional 4 years of related experience may substitute for a Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 3 year of experience directly involved in Epic application support/implementation, 5 years preferred
  • Epic certification in one of the following module areas preferred:
  • Cadence/Prelude
  • Referrals/RTE
  • Grand Central
  • Rev Cycle Reporting/Epic Cogito/Clarity/SQL
  • Resolute HB
  • Resolute PB
  • Hyland Document Management Systems experience
