Responsibilities:
THE ROLE:
Maxima, and Tauondi Aboriginal College, are seeking a motivated individual to undertake a Traineeship as a Youth Service Officer.
The Youth Service Officer (trainee) is responsible for providing intensive case management for Aboriginal young people aged 12 to 24, with an emphasis on those who are disengaged from education, employment, and their communities. The Trainee will be dedicated to creating opportunities for these individuals.
You will work fulltime and gain practical, industry experience and receive allocated time to study towards a nationally recognised Certificate IV in Youth Work.
Duties Include:
- Assist in providing intensive case management to young people
- Support the engagement of participants with education and local job opportunities
- Collaborate with young people, their families, schools, and Flexible Learning Options (FLO) providers to promote school attendance and academic achievement
- Participate in providing cultural mentoring and coaching to enhance the cultural identity of young people
- Engage with young people and their families in cultural activities
- Assist in maintaining a database, analysing data, and contributing to reporting as required
- Support effective consultation and working relationships with young people, the community, schools, and other stakeholders
- Assist in promoting and marketing Youth Service programs, activities, and initiatives
ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
- Current SA Driver’s licence
- DHS Working With Children Check (or willing to obtain)
- Responding to Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care Certificate (or willing to obtain)
- Current Covid-19 vaccinations (or willing to obtain)
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite of products
- Understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, protocols, practices and communities
