Job Code: 21210 Salary Grade: 15 Salary Range: $48,381 - $77, 894 FLSA: Exempt The purpose of this classification is to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety rules, regulations, and standards and to provide wellness information to County employees. Essential Functions: The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned. Conducts inspections; evaluates facilities and operations for effectiveness of the maintenance of a safe workplace; evaluates ergonomic conditions and unsafe practices to minimize risk; identifies hazardous problems and materials; monitors workplaces for compliance with established local, state and federal safety regulations, policies and procedures; and prepares technical reports with recommendations for corrective actions to alleviate and minimize hazards. Conducts safety training courses including defensive driving, CPR/first aid, safety and loss prevention, basic safety training for new employee orientation, back safety, personal protective equipment, hazardous material handling, confined spaces, etc.; develops safety training presentation and safety manuals; ensures employee compliance with safety regulations, policies and procedures; and ensures employees are trained in proper usage of safety equipment. Provides wellness program information; educates employees regarding available services and programs; analyzes health programs and policies; and evaluates programs and policies for performance, effectiveness, and cost reduction and makes recommendations regarding program improvement and policy changes. Conducts audits; reviews accident and compliance investigations; analyzes and evaluates data; and develops and implements plans to reduce or eliminate injuries, illness, or loss of property. Attends and facilitates meetings; attends Requests for Proposal submittals and committee meetings; acts as a liaison to health program vendors; conducts safety and loss prevention meetings; and makes recommendations and provides feedback regarding wellness and safety related issues. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Risk Management, Business Management, Statistics, or a related field required; one year of experience in safety compliance and risk management or a related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job. Specific License or Certification Required: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license and be a licensed health and life agent.
