POSITION DESCRIPTION

This position reports to the District Principal, Pathways and Choice and Vice-Principal, Qelensen À Len Secondary. This position involves working with High Performance Athletes from Rugby Canada, Golf Canada and Pacific Coast Hockey. Students at this school have classes at Qelensen À Len Secondary School locates at Eagle Ridge Community Centre classrooms.

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Inclusive Education experience and training
  • Minimum of five (5) years successful secondary (Grade 9-12) classroom teaching experience
  • Minimum of three university courses at the 300 level or higher related to specific subject area(s)
  • Minimum of one university courses related to Instructional Design and Application of Educational Technology and/or experience teaching BC Curriculum on-line
  • Knowledge and experience using D2L’s Brightspace learning management system including activation, completion, withdrawal, and reporting according to Ministry online standards, an asset
  • Experience with Ministry of Education’s Graduation Program
  • Education or demonstrated successful experience related to working with students in a high-performance sports program
  • Experience using MyEdBC Student Information System
    The starting annual salary for this teaching position ranges from $58,635 to $106,217, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. We also offer a competitive benefits package and pension.
Responsibilities
  • Responds to and resolves issues of District Academy participants
  • Meets with students in grade 10-12 to ensure they are meeting Ministry of Education and Childcare graduation requirements
  • Organizes and attends workshops that are specific to District Academy programs
  • Liaises, facilitates, and maintains the necessary communication and related paperwork and files for learning courses specific to District Academy programs.
  • Creates and maintains Student Learning Plans and student graduation plans with students, staff and family
  • Collaborates with Inclusion Support Team on scheduling students and maintaining Student Learning Plans and IEPs
  • Uses and maintains student data in the MyEdBC student Information System
  • Supports Provincial Numeracy and Literacy Assessments
