To contribute to achieving excellence in teaching and learning through innovative and excellent practice. You will be expected to create effective and stimulating learning opportunities for all students through high quality teaching, learning and assessment. You will deliver teaching and learning on all levels, from Level 1 through to Level 3, and offer current and relevant industry/practitioner skills within the areas of Hospitality, Travel and Tourism. You will be able to teach a range of skills, including: Travel and Tourism, industry expertise as well as making external links to create opportunities for students. Pastoral care will be an additional focus of the role and you will take responsibility for both personal and group tutorials to establish a cohesive learning experience that enables progression and development to higher levels or future employment. Key Responsibilities To contribute fully to the mission and values statement of the College ensuring its effective implementation in all aspects of College life To contribute to the College and curriculum area strategic objectives and to actively engage in the annual review To be aware of national developments in subject area and update knowledge and skills on an annual basis To plan, prepare and deliver high quality lessons in order to achieve effective management of the learning process Plan and use a range of effective and appropriate teaching and learning techniques to engage and motivate students and encourage independence and student autonomy Establish a purposeful and motivating learning environment where students feel safe, secure, confident and valued Establish and maintain procedures with students which promote and maintain appropriate behaviour, communication and respect for others, while challenging discriminatory behaviour and attitudes To set and mark work in accordance with College and School Assessment policies, to record work carried out and assessment of same To track all students’ progress and attendance in accordance with agreed College systems and policies To provide a balance of appropriate teaching styles and learning experiences To be aware of external/internal assessment procedures and to play and appropriate part in their implementation Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Essential Criteria: Professional qualification relevant to the subject area Excellent computer literacy – ability to use the current IT programs of the College Engaged in Continuing Professional Development Minimum of Level 2 literacy and numeracy or willingness to complete High level of communication and interpersonal skills Ability to set high standards for students, colleagues and for themselves Desirable Criteria Educated to Level 6 e.g. Degree A recognised Teaching qualification or vocational experience Proven experience of curriculum planning, development & delivery in Travel and Tourism Experience of resource based learning An ICT qualification Membership of a relevant professional body Experience of assessing students’ needs and planning curriculum for their benefit including Technology Enhanced Learning Good understanding of curriculum development to meet the training needs of employers Good understanding of quality assurance and improvement processes Please Note This role may close earlier than the advertised deadline if we receive sufficient applications.
